In the world of sports, mothers play a vital role in supporting and guiding their children. They are often there to offer words of encouragement, provide emotional support, and help their kids navigate the ups and downs of athletic competition. For this reason, it is important to recognize and honor these unsung heroes who have made a significant impact on the sports world.
On May 12th, we will be honoring a “Sports Mom of the Year” with a special feature that highlights her achievements and contributions to the sports community. This award has been given out for six years running, recognizing deserving mothers who have made a difference in the lives of athletes and their families.
If you know a mother who deserves recognition for her efforts in sports, you can nominate her by submitting her name and explaining why she should be named “Sports Mom of the Year” by 9 p.m. on May 3rd. To make your submission, you can email Kyle Neddenriep at kyle.neddenriep@indystar.com or leave a voicemail with your contact information at (317) 444-6649.
Last year’s award was shared by Crystal Clark and Amy Dinwiddie, but previous winners include Susie Strange in 2022, Kris Schepers in 2021, Kathy Loggan in 2020, and Angie Young in 2019. Each of these women has shown dedication and commitment to supporting young athletes in achieving their goals.
By nominating a mother who has made a difference in the sports world, you can help ensure that her hard work and dedication are recognized and celebrated. Whether it’s through volunteering at local sports events or coaching young athletes themselves, mothers play an essential role in shaping the future of sports for generations to come.
