Thunder sign Oakland sharpshooter Jack Gohlke after NCAA tournament breakout

Jack Gohlke, the 24-year-old basketball player who gained fame during the NCAA tournament, has signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder and is set to join their summer league team. This news was confirmed by Oakland University on their social media platforms.

Gohlke, who made a name for himself during the tournament’s first weekend by leading the No. 14 seed Golden Grizzlies to a stunning upset victory over No. 3 Kentucky, scored an impressive 32 points, including 10 three-pointers, in the team’s 80-76 win. His performance tied a record for the most three-pointers made in an NCAA tournament game.

Despite Oakland’s loss in the following round to NC State, Gohlke continued to shine by scoring 22 points, hitting 6 of 17 three-point attempts. Throughout his final season with the Golden Grizzlies, he averaged 13.1 points per game and shot 38% from beyond the arc. Prior to his time at Oakland, Gohlke spent four seasons at Hillsdale College where he averaged 14.2 points and maintained a 40% three-point shooting percentage.

The Thunder signed Gohlke to an Exhibit 10 contract, which serves as a tryout deal for the NBA’s minimum salary. This one-year agreement is non-guaranteed but can potentially be converted into a two-way contract, granting the player opportunities to play for both an NBA team and its G League affiliate club. The NBA summer league is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas from July 12th to 22nd.[/
