Junior World Championships conclude in Livigno amidst challenging weather for Big Air and Slopestyle events

Despite the arrival of spring two weeks ago, winter’s hold on the European Alps remains strong. This has resulted in the cancellation of many late-season competitions scheduled in the region after the conclusion of the World Cup season. One such event that was impacted was the Livigno 2024 FIS Park & Pipe Junior World Championships for slopestyle and big air.

The competition faced rough weather conditions throughout the week, with qualification results leading up to a cancelled big air finals session on Saturday due to inclement weather that posed safety concerns. However, results were still awarded in most of the competitions that were part of the Livigna 2024 FIS Park & Pipe Junior World Championships. The slopestyle finals took place as scheduled on Wednesday while women’s freeski big air finals were completed in full. Unfortunately, men’s freeski big air competition had to be scrapped entirely due to weather conditions.

Despite the challenges posed by the weather, athletes displayed their skills and determination in their respective events. In snowboarding events, Laura Zaveska from Czechia secured gold in slopestyle with Yura Murase from Japan taking silver and Rebecca Flynn from USA winning bronze. In men’s slopestyle competition, Brooklyn Depriest from USA claimed gold followed by Romain Allemand from France taking silver and Rocco Jamieson from New Zealand securing bronze medal.
