San Francisco: IT important Wipro has laid off at least 120 staff in the state of Florida, the US, due to a “realignment of company demands”.

The enterprise detailed the layoffs in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice filed with the Florida Division of Financial Chance, reports Channel Futures.

The job cuts by Wipro are at only one particular place in Tampa.

“Far more than one hundred of the impacted staff are processing agents. The rest are group leaders and a group manager,” the report described.

In a statement, Wipro mentioned this is an isolated incident.

“Wipro remains deeply committed to the area. And all other Wipro staff serving consumers in the Tampa location stay unaffected,” the enterprise told the publication.

The layoffs, which are permanent, will begin in May possibly, according to the report.

The Indian IT important announced the opening of its Americas headquarters in East Brunswick, New Jersey, earlier this month.

Wipro has about 20,500 staff situated across the United States, Canada and LATAM (Mexico and Brazil).

In India, Wipro in January laid off a lot more than 400 fresher staff for poor efficiency in internal assessment tests.

At a time when the job market place is hit by increasing layoffs, Wipro has also written to fresh recruits who have been provided Rs six.five lakh per annum, asking if they would be in a position to perform for Rs three.five lakh per annum.
