WVU Health and Wellness Expo: A Complementary Health Fair with a Twist

On Sunday, April 28, from 1-5 p.m., the Student Recreation Center will host a health and wellness Expo featuring complementary health services and informative sessions. The event is being organized by the Health Sciences and Technology Academy, Minorities Association of Pre-Healthcare Students, and the Student National Medical Association.

The expo will include a two-mile Community Health Walk starting at 2:30 p.m., followed by a run at 3:30 p.m., both led by local fitness experts. Additionally, attendees can receive various health screenings such as oxygen levels, blood pressure checks, and nutritional evaluations from Project REACH. The WVU Medicine Children’s Transport Team will also be present to provide healthy vs. unhealthy lung displays for attendees to learn about lung health and respiratory issues.

The WVU Student Nurses’ Association will offer diabetes prevention education and promote exercise habits that lead to improved overall health outcomes during the expo. Gregory Epps, advisor to the sponsoring student organizations stated that this event aims to create an inclusive environment where people can enjoy themselves while receiving valuable information and services that promote their personal wellness.

The event is supported by various campus and community partners including the WVU Health Sciences Center, WVU Medicine, NASAWV Space Grant Consortium, among others. For more information on the event or how to get involved as a sponsor or volunteer, individuals can contact Epps at gdepps@hsc.wvu.edu[/
