As the 2024 Major League Baseball season progresses, it’s time to evaluate each team and see how they’re performing compared to their pre-season expectations. In a recent episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman discussed their early season evaluations of all thirty MLB teams.
One of the biggest impacts on a team’s performance can be injuries, and unfortunately for some teams like the Atlanta Braves and New York Yankees, their aces have gone down with injuries. However, despite this setback, Jordan feels better about both teams than he did before the season started. On the other hand, Jake is only feeling better about one of those teams – the Los Angeles Angels. The reason for this is simple – Mike Trout has been performing at an elite level once again.
The Milwaukee Brewers are also improving in Jake’s eyes thanks to Jackson Chourio’s impressive debut. But when it comes to the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox, Jordan feels even more down on them than he did before the season started. It seems like these two teams are struggling to live up to their expectations so far.
Later in the episode, Jake and Jordan discussed the long-awaited debut of Jack Leiter, who was selected second overall in the 2021 MLB Draft by Texas Rangers fans. They talked about what fans can expect from him as he takes his first steps onto a big league field at 23 years old.
The guys covered discussions on all six divisions – AL East, AL Central, AL West, NL East, NL Central, and NL West – during their episode of Baseball Bar-B-Cast which viewers can subscribe to and follow on X@CespedesBBQ or Yahoo Sports Podcasts respectively.
