Agscent has been declared the winner of the Pitch In The Paddock competition at Beef2024, held in Rockhampton. The company bested seven other finalists in this unique pitching event, which focuses on showcasing beef-focused business concepts, prototypes or new products to a large audience of beef stakeholders and consumers in the Southern Hemisphere.
This year’s competition saw a record number of applicants competing for a spot in the final eight. The lucky finalists were given the opportunity to present a five-minute pitch to a panel of judges and a live audience during today’s event.
Dr. Bronwyn Darlington, Managing Director and Founder of Agscent, delivered an impressive pitch that captivated the panel with her company’s innovative use of NASA-licensed technology to create groundbreaking breath-sensing devices. These devices are set to revolutionize methane measurement, pregnancy testing, and disease diagnostics through an affordable nanotechnology platform.
Darlington’s inspiration for Agscent came from her realization of the potential behind breath diagnostics technology originally developed for humans. By adapting this technology to her family’s large cattle and sheep property in rural New South Wales, she has paved the way for a new wave of advancements in the agricultural industry.
Beef Australia Board Director Jess Webb praised Darlington’s groundbreaking work, noting that she is “shifting the dial” in the industry by introducing new technologies that will improve animal welfare and productivity while reducing environmental impact.
