The management of Charleroi airport has announced that two managers have been re-assigned in an effort to prevent strikes. This move comes after staff accused the managers of bullying, and unions had announced a strike for Wednesday.
According to the BSCA spokesperson, these reassignments are precautionary measures that will be in effect during an internal auditor’s investigation. Yves Lambot of the Christian employee union CNE expressed positivity towards the decision but mentioned that it is still a preventive measure at this stage. He added that the case will first be investigated by an internal auditor and then by the labor auditor’s office before final decisions are made.
The strike notice is still in effect until May 15, and management is concerned about any personnel action that could affect the airport, especially with around 500,000 passengers expected in the next two weeks with the start of the spring holidays in French-speaking Belgium.
