The Bentley African Student Association (ASA) recently hosted a successful conference that drew attendees from both Bentley University and beyond. The event, which was planned and executed by undergraduate students including Danquah, featured ten speakers instead of the three speakers from the previous year. The keynote address delivered by Jean-Paul Adam covered topics such as policy making, international collaboration, and unity among African nations. Tufts University student Kristen Barth, who attended the conference, expressed her appreciation for the keynote address and commended the Bentley ASA team for organizing such a successful event.
The success of the conference can be attributed to the hard work and dedication of the ASA student teams, who were responsible for various tasks such as marketing, outreach, and operations. These teams handled important aspects of the conference, such as budgeting, securing speakers and sponsors, organizing facilities, and promoting the event. Early in the planning process, they met with Bentley President E. LaBrent Chrite, who provided support and encouragement for the event. Danquah expressed gratitude for this support from Bentley’s leadership and noted that knowing President Chrite backed their efforts gave them confidence to aim for even greater growth in future conferences.
Danquah believes that with this support from Bentley’s leadership, there is great potential for expansion of the conference in future years. He is optimistic that it will continue to make a positive impact on attendees by facilitating learning and networking among students while inspiring a renewed commitment to contributing to development in Ghana and Africa as a whole.
Overall, Danquah’s leadership along with other ASA members played a crucial role in making this conference successful. Their hard work has not gone unnoticed as they have made an impact on not only their peers but also on society at large through their initiatives.
