The defense industry is booming in many countries, including Turkey. One of the most successful Turkish defense companies is Baykar, which has recently rewarded its employees with grants equivalent to 18 salaries. Baykar is known for its cutting-edge technology and advanced products, such as the Bayraktar TB2 drone, which has been widely used by the Ukrainian army.
Baykar’s revenues have spiked significantly during the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and in 2022, the company generated 1.8 billion dollars in exports, accounting for a third of all defense sector exports in Turkey. In addition to being a leader in security exports within Turkey between 2021-2022, Baykar also exports UAVs to a high number of countries. The company has sold Beyrakter TB2 and Akinci to 33 and nine countries respectively. These exports are subject to the Defense Export Control Division in the Ministry of Defense.
As a token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication, Baykar announced that employees who have worked for more than six years or managers who have been with the company for more than two years will receive an 18-salary grant. He also expressed his belief that they would achieve even more together in the future.
Baykar was ranked 76th on Stockholm Peace Research Institute’s list of the top 100 defense companies worldwide for 2022, while Israeli defense companies like Elbit, IAI, and Rafael ranked higher in the list.
