DCPS awarded almost $20,000 in grants for improvements to technology programs

Nearly $20,000 in grants from the Kentucky Society for Technology in Education are boosting technology projects at Daviess County Public Schools. These funds will be used to enhance the educational experience for students through various initiatives.

One such initiative is the establishment of an Apollo High School and Daviess County High School Student IT Support Pathway, which received a grant of $9,655. This program will provide students with valuable experience in technology repair and maintenance, preparing them for future careers in the field. DCHS Assistant Principal Chad Alward noted that this initiative will replace barriers to training with real-world technology applications within the school setting.

Another grant of $10,000 will assist DCHS in setting up a cutting-edge podcast studio. This studio will allow students to enhance their communication skills, explore multimedia storytelling, and discover new creative outlets. Equipped with high-level technology and professional-grade equipment, students will have the opportunity to produce audio or video content on a variety of subjects.

Superintendent Matt Robbins stated that these grants will enrich the learning experiences of students and empower them with valuable skills for their future careers. The Student IT Repair Program and the podcast studio are exciting additions to the school’s educational offerings, and the community is eager to see the positive impact they will have on students.
