The annual bowl season meetings have wrapped up in El Paso, Texas. This year’s convention was hosted by the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl, which brought hundreds of people to the borderland and injected tens of thousands of dollars into the local economy. Representatives from major bowls such as the Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, and Sugar Bowl were among those in attendance for the three-day gathering.
In addition to these big-name bowls, representatives from all 43 bowl games were also present in El Paso. Events took place at the El Paso Convention Center and the Paso Del Norte Hotel. The Arizona Bowl in Tucson, another bowl game in the region, was also represented at the meeting. Kym Adair, executive director of the AZ Bowl, highlighted how convenient it is for borderland teams to participate in their games due to its proximity to El Paso.
Bernie Olivas, executive director of the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl, expressed his excitement about hosting this year’s convention in El Paso. He emphasized that it was a significant event for the city, as they have previously been hosted in Los Angeles, Nashville, Orlando, Houston and San Antonio. The impact of this year’s annual bowl season meetings on the El Paso economy will be discussed on Sunday XTRA hosted by Mark Ross airing on Sunday nights at 10:35 p.m on ABC-7.
