Bruins Make NHL Playoff History with Game 7 Victory over Leafs

The Boston Bruins won a historic Game 7 victory against the Toronto Maple Leafs to advance to the second round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs with a thrilling 2-1 overtime win. The Bruins had initially held a commanding 3-1 series lead, but the Leafs fought back with wins in Games 5 and 6 to force a decisive seventh game at TD Garden. Unfortunately for Toronto, their comeback fell short as they lost in overtime.

This win marked the Bruins’ fourth Game 7 victory over the Leafs in the first round this century, having also achieved this feat in 2013, 2018, and 2019. With this victory, the Bruins now hold the record for the most Game 7 wins in NHL history, surpassing the Montreal Canadiens. The franchise has played in a total of 31 Game 7s, also a record, while the Leafs are in second place with 27 Game 7s.

The Bruins will now face off against the Florida Panthers in the second round, seeking revenge after being upset by the Panthers in last season’s playoffs first round. The two teams will meet again on Monday night at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto for Game One of their highly anticipated series.
