The Under-18 Men’s World Championship: Team USA Wins Silver

Canada scored two quick goals on a major power play in the third period to take a 5-3 lead. The U.S. managed to pull within one goal with a goal from Zeimer with just over four minutes left in the third. However, McKenna sealed the win for Canada with an empty-net goal in the final seconds.

The U.S. took a two-goal lead with seven minutes left in the second period thanks to a goal by Hutson, assisted by Vansaghi and Skahan. Canada responded before the end of the period with a power play goal by McKenna, making it a 3-2 game. Hutson was named Team USA’s player of the game, while Hagens was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. Hagens also received the Directorate Award for Best Forward, while Hutson received the Directorate Award for Best Defender. Both players were named to the Media All-Star Team. The U.S. outshot Canada 35-25 and scored one goal on four power play opportunities
