Canada emerged victorious in the under-18 men’s world hockey championship with a thrilling 6-4 win over the United States. Gavin McKenna led the charge with a hat trick and an assist, helping Canada rally back from an early 3-1 deficit. Cole Beaudoin, Tij Iginla, and Ryder Ritchie also contributed goals in the third period, sealing the win for Canada. Goalie Carter George made 31 saves to secure the victory.
On the other hand, Cole Hutson stood out for the U.S. with a goal and two assists, while Christian Humphreys, Cole Eiserman, and Brodie Ziemer added goals of their own. Despite making 19 saves in net, Nicholas Kempf couldn’t stop Canada’s comeback.
In the bronze medal match, Love Harenstam put on a stellar performance for Sweden, stopping all 36 shots from Slovakia to secure a 4-0 victory. Lucas Pettersson broke the scoreless tie early in the third period with goals from Melvin Fernstrom, Alfons Freij, and Victor Eklund solidifying the win for Sweden. Alan Lendak made 25 saves for Slovakia in the losing effort.
With this victory, Canada continues to show their dominance in men’s hockey on the international stage. The team has now won five gold titles at this level of competition in just seven years – a testament to their talent and determination on and off the ice.
