Minnesota Sports Hall of Fame inducts Gigi Marvin, Neal Broten, Willie Burton, and Larry McKenzie

On April 6, the latest class of Star Tribune Minnesota Sports Hall of Famers, commonly known as “the hoops and hockey class”, was honored during the Wild game. The Xcel Energy Center crowd erupted in cheers for legendary hockey players Gigi Marvin and Neal Broten, as well as Minnesota basketball icons Larry McKenzie and Willie Burton.

Unfortunately, some members of the Class of 2023 were unable to attend the event. Cheryl Reeve, a women’s basketball legend from Minneapolis South, was at the women’s Final Four, while Phil Housley, a former NHL player and assistant coach with the New York Rangers, was serving as an assistant coach. However, Jade Hill accepted the Hall of Fame trophy on behalf of her sister Tayler, who set numerous records in basketball. Gaabi Boucha, grandson of Warroad legend Henry Boucha, was also present.
