British man born in the same year as the sinking of the Titanic celebrates 111th birthday, becomes world’s oldest man

111-year-old John Alfred Tinniswood from England has been officially recognized as the world’s oldest living man by Guinness World Records. The certificate was presented to him in Southport, England two days after the previous title holder passed away.

Tinniswood, who was born in Liverpool in 1912, has lived through two world wars, as well as the Great Influenza and Covid-19 pandemics. He attributes his longevity to luck but also emphasizes moderation in life, advising against excessive drinking, eating, or physical activity.

Despite his age, Tinniswood remains a dedicated Liverpool football club fan, having witnessed all of the club’s league title wins and FA cup successes. He is also recognized as the world’s oldest surviving male World War II veteran. Currently residing in a care home in Southport, Tinniswood is described as an amazing individual with many stories to tell by care home manager Katie Howard.

The world’s oldest living woman, 117-year-old Maria Branyas Morera from Spain holds the record for oldest living woman.
