Management and unions to hold meeting in attempt to prevent strike at Charleroi airport on Thursday

On Wednesday, the unions and management of Charleroi airport (BSCA) will meet again in an attempt to find a solution to the planned strike on Thursday. Nathalie Pierard, BSCA’s head of communications, confirmed this after a meeting between the parties on Tuesday evening. The strike is expected to cause major disruption at the airport, affecting more than 17,500 departing passengers and 94 flights.

On Tuesday afternoon, Charleroi airport staff announced the strike and negotiations between management and unions began immediately. However, these talks did not yield any results and discussions continued into Wednesday morning. “A long meeting took place tonight between the unions and management, and further discussions are already planned tomorrow morning to try to find a solution and avoid a strike,” said Pierard in an email sent shortly after midnight.

Charleroi Airport is urging passengers to monitor the situation through their communication channels and has already apologized for any inconvenience caused by the potential strike. It is crucial for management and unions to reach an agreement before Thursday in order to prevent any disruptions at the airport and ensure smooth operations. The ongoing negotiations are aimed at addressing the concerns of airport staff and finding a resolution that satisfies all parties involved.
