Kyle Busch secures pole position for Dover Cup starting lineup

The starting lineup for Sunday’s race at Dover Motor Speedway features a Chevrolet driver in the lead, as Kyle Busch was the fastest during Saturday’s qualifying session at the 1-mile banked concrete track. He was one of four Chevrolet drivers to reach the final round of qualifying. William Byron, Alex Bowman, and AJ Allmendinger also made it into the top 10, with Byron in third, Bowman in ninth, and Allmendinger in tenth.

In contrast to the Chevy dominance, Ryan Blaney was the fastest Ford driver on Saturday and qualified in second place. Noah Gragson, Chase Briscoe, and Michael McDowell also made it to the second round of qualifying in their Fords. Unfortunately for NASCAR fans, Erik Jones will miss Sunday’s race at Dover after suffering a compression fracture in a lower vertebra last week at Talladega.

Tyler Reddick and Denny Hamlin were the only Toyota drivers to make it to the second round of qualifying. Martin Truex Jr., last season’s winner at Dover, qualified in 15th place. Jimmie Johnson, an eleven-time winner at Dover, had the fifth-fastest time during practice but qualified in 27th place. The race at Dover will start at 2:11 p.m., with coverage on FS1 starting with NASCAR RaceDay at 1 p.m.
