The Rangers secure a close 5-4 victory against the Tigers

On Wednesday, the Texas Rangers emerged victorious over the Detroit Tigers with a score of 5-4. The winning run was driven in by a clutch pinch-hit double from Josh Smith in the ninth inning. This came after Ezequiel Duran singled and advanced to second on an error by first baseman Spencer Torkelson.

Detroit’s Shelby Miller took the loss as they committed three errors, leading to two unearned runs. Kerry Carpenter tied the game for the Tigers with a home run in the second inning. Fielding errors plagued the Tigers in the sixth inning, allowing the Rangers to score three runs. Despite their best efforts, Detroit fell short and lost the game.

The series finale will see Texas’ top draft pick Jack Leiter make his major league debut, while Kenta Maeda will start for Detroit.
