In 2023, Allen Robinson was appointed dean of the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). Prior to his current role, he served as the director of CMU’s campus in Kigali, Rwanda known as CMU-Africa.
As dean, Robinson holds professorial positions in both the Departments of Atmospheric Science and Mechanical Engineering. His research focuses on technical and policy issues related to the impact of emissions from energy systems on air quality, climate, and public health. He emphasizes policy analysis and decision-making in these areas.
Robinson has also led the Environmental Protection Agency-funded Center for Air, Climate, and Energy Solutions. This center involves researchers and students from seven universities and a national laboratory. Additionally, he has served as the president of the American Association for Aerosol Research.
