The Miami Dolphins had a successful draft, starting off strong with the selection of Chop Robinson and Patrick Paul in the first and second rounds respectively. While their trade-up for Jaylen Wright in the fourth round was a bit perplexing, overall they acquired a good group of players. Wide receivers Malik Washington and Tahj Washington both generated buzz in college and have the potential to compete for playing time behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.
In my opinion, Patrick Paul was the standout pick from the Dolphins’ draft. A talented offensive tackle from Houston, Paul stands at 6-7 and weighs 330 pounds, with exceptional athleticism and raw talent. He has the ability to become a consistent NFL tackle and make impressive plays in head coach Mike McDaniel’s offense. This prospect-to-team match seems destined for success.
On the other hand, Jaylen Wright was my least favorite pick from the Dolphins’ draft. Taken in the fourth round as a running back from Tennessee, Wright may not be the ideal replacement for De’Von Achane when Raheem Mostert eventually moves on. While speed is a priority for Coach McDaniel, Wright struggles with vision and running between the tackles. McDaniel may need to see that not all fast running backs are equal.
