For the First Time Ever, EKU Men’s Tennis Team to Compete in UTR Sports NIT Championship

The Eastern Kentucky University men’s tennis team is set to make history by playing in the UTR Sports NIT Championship for the first time. After a successful season with 20 wins and a trip to the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship, the Colonels will compete in the tournament held at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. from May 5-8. The quarterfinals for the UTR Sports NIT Championship will begin on May 5, with EKU facing off against Liberty.

Following a standout season where they achieved their first ITA team ranking and had a significant increase in wins from the previous season, EKU Tennis has qualified for this prestigious national postseason tournament. This marks their first national postseason appearance since 2015 when they played against No. 5 Texas A&M in the NCAA Tournament. Despite falling short in the 2024 ASUN Conference Championship against Stetson, Evzen Holis was named to the First Team All-ASUN for his performance in singles.

Fans can watch EKU Tennis on Amazon Prime Video during the tournament and follow their historic postseason run on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. With seven other teams competing in the UTR Sports NIT Championship, including Northwestern and Santa Clara, it’s sure to be an exciting event that fans won’t want to miss.
