Guidelines released for solar panel owners during power outages

The Electricity Authority has recently issued guidelines on the use of photovoltaic cells during power outages, in response to potential issues with electricity supply due to the conflict with Hezbollah. The authority aims to increase public awareness on this matter by providing clear instructions on how to utilize a photovoltaic panel during an outage.

To make use of a photovoltaic panel during a power outage, a special hybrid switch must be purchased and installed. This switch can cost anywhere from several hundred to several thousand shekels and must be installed by a certified electrician.

The hybrid switch is designed to automatically disconnect the home from the power grid in case of a fault, allowing the solar panels to continue providing electricity to the home without interruption. This technology can provide a reliable alternative power source during times of emergency and ensure that households remain powered even when the grid is down.
