Rain leaves 173 Ukrainian villages without power, 20 killed in Indonesia

In Russia, emergency evacuations were called in areas affected by dangerous floods near the Kazakhstan border. The storms and rains in Ukraine caused increased pressure on the energy system, resulting in power outages for over 15,000 people in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Meanwhile, landslides triggered by the rains led to casualties in the villages of Tana Turayavi and Sulawesi Province in Indonesia.

In Ukraine, thousands of people experienced electricity cuts due to strong winds, heavy rains, and floods damaging the electrical infrastructure. The final death toll reached 20 in Indonesia as search operations uncovered a mother and her son among the victims. Energy company Detec worked tirelessly to restore power to the affected areas while Tyumen governor ordered evacuations in flood-prone areas and set up temporary shelters for displaced residents. Heavy rains eroded the soil of residential areas on mountain slopes, causing destructive landslides that posed a significant risk to residents exacerbated by deforestation and prolonged heavy rains.
