Josselyn, a community mental health center in Lake County, has expanded its services to reach the entire county due to the growing demand for accessible mental health care. Susan Resko, CEO and president of Josselyn, shared that the clinics currently serve 8,000 clients and receive over 1,000 calls every month. Despite the pandemic subsiding, the need for mental health services remains high.
The recent expansion of Josselyn has made it easier for individuals in areas like Waukegan, Grayslake, and Highland Park to receive treatment. Camilo Morales, clinical coordinator at Josselyn, expressed pride in the center’s ability to reach more people than before. Josselyn now offers a Spanish language option on its website and bilingual therapists like Morales to assist Spanish-speaking clients effectively.
Robert Robbins, a former client of Josselyn, shared his story of finding the center online after struggling with homelessness and substance abuse for many years. Robbins credited Josselyn with helping him achieve 11 years of sobriety and pursue becoming a certified recovery support specialist. Chloe Brodner, assistant director of clinic services at Josselyn, highlighted that the center has over 100 therapists on staff offering various forms of therapy including an expressive arts program incorporating art, dance and music to meet clients’ diverse needs.
Josselyn’s commitment to providing accessible mental health services has not only helped individuals in Lake County but also set an example for other healthcare providers to follow.
