In early 2026, the University Health Wheatley clinic will open on the East Side in San Antonio. This three-story, 60,000-square-foot medical complex is a significant expansion for the healthcare provider, bringing advanced technologies, specialists and health education resources closer to home for many families in the area. The construction of the Wheatley clinic received support from Bexar County Commissioners Court, which allocated $40 million from the American Recovery Act Plan to fund the project.
Another expansion project by University Health is the Vida clinic, which broke ground in December 2023. George B. Hernandez Jr., president and CEO of University Health expressed excitement about the new location and its potential to benefit the community. Precinct 4 County Commissioner Tommy Calvert praised the project for its dedication to improving health on the East Side and thanked those involved in making it happen.
These expansion projects demonstrate University Health’s commitment to providing quality healthcare services to a growing population in San Antonio. Through these initiatives, they aim to increase access to care and promote overall wellness in the community. With their continued efforts towards providing accessible and high-quality healthcare services, University Health is leading by example and making a positive impact on people’s lives in San Antonio.
