ASTM International is a global standards development organization that works to create consensus standards for various industries, including cannabis. The D37 Committee on Cannabis was established to continually develop these standards and ensure the safety and quality of cannabis products. These standards cover testing methods, cultivation guidelines, laboratory practices, and more. Stakeholders in the cannabis industry who have an interest in these areas are encouraged to attend the meetings and contribute their insights.
On May 7th, 2024, there will be four ASTM meetings taking place, including the ASTM Subcommittee D37.93 on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Meeting led by Scheril Murray Powell, Esq., the ASTM Subcommittee D37.04 Initiative on Equipment & Facility Cleaning guided by Darwin Millard, the Joint ASTM Subcommittee Initiative on Vape Device Safety & Testing also led by Darwin Millard, and the ASTM Task Group developing a Standard Guide for Cannabis/Hemp Laboratory Out-of-Specifications (OOS) and Retesting led by Jini Glaros, Chief Scientific Officer at Modern Canna Laboratories.
