SOAR Academy Hosts Augusta-Area Science Fair for Homeschoan-wed Students

The CSRA Homeschool Science Fair at SOAR Academy in Martinez was a first-time experience for many homeschooled students. More than a dozen homeschoolers participated in the science fair, showcasing a wide range of projects that intrigued visitors. Among the participants was eighth-grader Jacob Lott, who was one of the winners.

The science fair was organized by homeschool moms Megan Berry and Amber Baxley, with the support of Madeline Gregory, the office manager at SOAR Academy. The event aimed to provide homeschooled children with the opportunity to engage in a traditional school experience and promote a love for science. Participants were able to interact with various animals, adding a hands-on element to their educational experience.

Jenny Jewett, a parent whose son Silas was also a winner at the science fair, expressed her pride in her child’s success and appreciation for the new resource. The event was well-received by both participants and visitors, prompting plans for larger participation and volunteer involvement in future editions. Baxley hopes that the excitement seen in the kids at the science fair will lead to a sustained interest in science among homeschool students.
