Sols 1371-1372: Journeying Southward – NASA Science

Our mission to explore the Murray formation continues with a variety of observations on the first sol. We will use the ChemCam and Mastcam instruments to study the texture and chemistry of the area. In addition, we have included plans for a small Mastcam mosaic to capture images of nearby cross-stratification and nodules. We will also take a small MAHLI mosaic of our target, “Berg Aukas,” before moving on to our next location.

On the second sol, we have included an untargeted science block in our plan. This block consists of a ChemCam autonomously selected target and a Mastcam observation to monitor the opacity of the atmosphere.

Overall, today’s plan is packed with observations and activities aimed at increasing our understanding of the terrain and atmosphere in this area of study. By completing these tasks, we hope to gather valuable data that will contribute to our overall mission goals.
