More than 200 Dong Nai residents now suspected of poisoning from tainted bread

On April 30, 2021, Long Khanh Regional General Hospital was flooded with 209 suspected food poisoning patients who consumed bread from a local business in Xuan Binh ward, Long Khanh. One of the cases required urgent transfer to a higher hospital for further treatment. Out of the total number of patients, 160 received medical attention, 5 underwent examinations and were then discharged, while 43 mild cases were immediately sent home.

The symptoms exhibited by all patients included vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and abdominal pain after consuming meat sandwiches purchased between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on April 30. Doctors diagnosed them with intestinal infections and suspected food poisoning. Fortunately, most of the patients are now in stable condition.

The Food Safety and Hygiene Department of Dong Nai province will work with the Medical Center and relevant agencies in Long Khanh City to investigate the cause of the incident that led to this outbreak. The Department of Health has instructed Long Khanh Regional General Hospital to provide the best possible treatment conditions for patients while they wait for results from investigations into the bakery that sold contaminated bread. The bakery has been operating for over ten years but is currently suspended due to a lack of food safety and hygiene certification.

Meanwhile, the city’s chairman visited the patients at the hospital to ensure their well-being amidst this crisis situation. It is imperative that we determine the source of this outbreak as soon as possible to prevent future incidents and safeguard our community’s health and safety.

In conclusion, an investigation into this food poisoning outbreak must be carried out promptly by all relevant authorities involved to ensure that such incidents do not occur again in the future, putting our community’s health at risk.

It is crucial that we prioritize our efforts towards identifying those responsible for this incident so that we can take necessary measures against them to prevent similar incidents from happening again in the future.

Let us hope that those responsible for this incident learn from their mistake and take necessary steps towards improving their practices so that they can continue providing safe products to their customers without any harm or danger posed upon them.
