Four Workers Severely Burned in Electrical Fire While Repairing Cable Line in District 8

On May 8th, four workers from the Cho Lon Electricity Company were severely burned in an electrical short circuit, fire, and explosion while working on repairing electricity at an underground cable line in District 8. The workers sustained burns to varying degrees and were rushed to Cho Ray Hospital for treatment.

Dr. Ngo Duc Hiep, head of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Cho Ray Hospital, reported that the most severely injured patient was a 28-year-old male with 2nd and 3rd degree burns covering 80% of his body. The patient had burns on his head, chest, abdomen, limbs, and eyes. Emergency doctors provided pain relief, intravenous fluids, tetanus prevention, blood tests, and CT scans for the patient.

The other three patients included a 46-year-old man with burns on his head and face, a 37-year-old man with burns on his ear and hands, and a 37-year-old with burns on his hand and ankle. They were treated for pain relief and tetanus prevention before being discharged from the hospital.

Dr. Hiep noted that the prognosis for the most severely injured patient was still difficult due to the extent of his burns. The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers involved in electrical repairs and highlights the importance of safety measures being taken to prevent accidents like this one from occurring in the future.
