Popular Kingston eatery shutting its doors after a decade of service

The popular taco restaurant and bar, Diego’s, closed its doors for good this past Saturday in Uptown Kingston. Owner Isaac Cruz announced the closure on Instagram after ten years of operation. He cited the challenges of pandemic lockdowns and rising costs as the reasons for the decision to shut down.

Despite facing tough times, Cruz expressed gratitude to supporters on his Instagram post and acknowledged their contributions to the business’s success over the years. He also explained that Diego’s plans to transition into a food truck or trailer in the future.

Cruz thanked customers for their loyalty and support while acknowledging the difficulties faced by businesses during the pandemic. He mentioned that he had hoped to hold on as long as possible but that it was ultimately not feasible due to increased operating costs.

Diego’s invited fans to stay updated on their future plans by following them on Instagram, where they will announce their upcoming vending events for the summer. They also asked for community support as they navigate this transition into a mobile food vending operation. The business hopes to continue serving its beloved tacos to customers in a new and innovative way in the future.
