From Crawl to Run: Exploring the Potential of Autonomy in Precision Agriculture with Linco-Precision

Linco-Precision in Nokomis, Ill., is a company that focuses on precision agriculture and the use of technology in farming. One of the topics they have been exploring is autonomy and how it can be used to improve efficiency in their customers’ operations. Jake Warford, a precision specialist at Linco-Precision, explains that while they are still in the early stages of exploring this area, there are many potential applications for autonomy in agriculture.

One area where Warford sees great potential for autonomy is in row crop applications such as fertilizer and lime spreading, as well as cover crop planting. He mentions how they used their autonomy kit to sow cover crops and wheat last year, illustrating the endless opportunities for automation in agriculture.

Linco-Precision offers the Sabanto autonomy kit, which follows a philosophy of “crawl, walk, run.” They are currently in the walking phase of implementing autonomy in various agricultural tasks. Warford believes that there are vast possibilities for autonomy in agriculture and that there is an application for it wherever it can be made to work.

Overall, Warford sees autonomy as a key aspect of precision agriculture and believes that its potential to improve efficiency will continue to grow as technology advances.
