The Top US National Parks to Visit (and Avoid) During the Summer

Matt and Karen Smith, a Gen X couple, have been on a mission to visit every US national park since 2010. Inspired by their friends Bob and Sue, they set out to explore the country’s natural wonders. After completing their journey, the couple has shared their experiences through various books and social media platforms.

With over 247,000 followers on Instagram and a podcast called “Dear Bob and Sue: A National Parks Podcast,” Matt and Karen Smith have become popular travel bloggers. They offer insights, tips, and tricks for visiting national parks. However, after experiencing killer summer temperatures at Death Valley during their travels, they discovered that high alpine national parks are the best places to visit during the summer months.

According to the National Parks Service, park visitors increased to over 325 million in the previous year, approaching an all-time high. The Smiths suggest eight parks that are ideal for summer travelers while avoiding two parks that should be avoided during the season. By sharing their knowledge and experiences with others, Matt and Karen Smith continue to inspire wanderers across the country to explore our national treasures.
