In a surprising announcement, Nintendo has revealed that the successor to its popular Switch console will be unveiled by April 2025. The news was shared alongside the company’s year-end financial results, with Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa confirming that the new console will be announced “within this fiscal year,” with a deadline set for March 31, 2025.
During discussions of the financial results, Furukawa also mentioned that a Nintendo Direct in June 2024 will focus on the Switch software lineup for the second half of the year. While there is no news about the new model during that presentation, it is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2025.
Despite forecasts of a slowdown in Switch console sales, with estimates of 13.5 million units sold this year compared to 15.7 million in the previous fiscal year, the number of active players on the platform continues to rise steadily. Between April 2023 and March 2024, Nintendo recorded 123 million annual players – its highest number since launch. The company plans to continue supporting the current generation of Switch console and aims to have multiple consoles in each household.
In addition to this exciting news about Nintendo’s upcoming console release, various online platforms are discussing topics ranging from health and family traditions to tree removal services in Rotherham.
