Google to shut down Podcasts platform globally in June

Google has announced that its content platform, Google Podcasts, will be discontinued internationally between mid-to-late June. The company had previously stated in September that they would end Google Podcasts by 2024 and focus on investing in this format within YouTube Music. They provided tools to creators interested in transferring their content experience to this platform, offering guides to assist with content migration.

In December of the same year, Google shared a schedule for the discontinuation of Google Podcasts, stating that the service would end in the United States in April 2024. They have now updated this information on their support website, revealing that users outside the US will have access to Google Podcasts until mid-to late June 2024. All users worldwide will have the opportunity to migrate or export their subscriptions until July 29, 2024. This can be done directly from the app by utilizing the ‘Export subscriptions’ button on the screen’s top page.

For those interested in transitioning to YouTube Music, there is also an ‘Export to YouTube Music’ option available on the app. Users must have the YouTube Music application installed to migrate their subscriptions smoothly. This process aims to streamline and facilitate the transition for Google Podcasts users as they move to another platform for their content consumption.
