Google to Lay Off Additional Employees

The finance and real estate units of Google have experienced recent layoffs, according to two sources. The Treasury, Business Services, and Revenue Cash Operations teams in finance are among the affected teams. Google’s Finance Chief Ruth Porat has announced plans to establish “growth hubs” in locations such as Bangalore, Mexico City, and Dublin as part of a restructuring effort aimed at improving efficiency and aligning resources with the company’s top priorities.

A small percentage of roles will be relocated to other offices in the US and abroad, including India, Dublin, and Atlanta. Google has not disclosed the exact number of affected staff but confirmed the cuts. Affected employees can apply for open roles within the company as Google invests in its biggest priorities and opportunities. The restructuring aims to simplify structures, remove layers, and provide employees with opportunities to work on innovative projects.

Google has been undergoing staff cuts and company reorganization throughout 2023 to reduce costs and accelerate progress in key areas like AI. CEO Sundar Pichai previously warned employees that cuts would continue throughout the year although not every team would be affected. Other companies like Verily have also reduced headcount in response to market shifts if you are a current or former employee with insights to share feel free to reach out securely on Signal (628-228-1836).
