The Ann Arbor Green Business Challenge (A2 GBC) is a new initiative launched by the City of Ann Arbor and Ann Arbor SPARK, aimed at promoting sustainability within the local business community. This program goes beyond just a certification, as it’s a movement to drive a greener and more sustainable future for businesses in the area.
By participating in the challenge, businesses can showcase their commitment to eco-friendly practices and earn recognition and cash rewards for their efforts. The launch event for the program took place on Tuesday, where speakers including Rodger Bowser from Zingerman’s Delicatessen, Yahang Zhang from RRS, and Heidi Poscher from 4th Purpose Energy shared information with interested businesses.
The A2 GBC focuses on seven key categories to promote sustainability: Energy, Circular Economy, Water, Resilience, Supply Chain, Education, and Mobility. Participants earn points towards different certification levels including bronze, silver, gold, and platinum by implementing sustainable practices across these categories.
