Possible Contaminated Chorizo Sold at H-E-B Prompts Public Health Alert

Contaminated chorizo sold at H-E-B in San Antonio has resulted in a public health alert. The U.S. Department of Agriculture reported that the affected product is “LEAN APCO BRAND MEATS ALL-NATURAL PREMIUM CHORIZO” with a best-by date of May 12. This chorizo was sold at H-E-B grocery stores in Texas.

The contamination was discovered after receiving complaints about hard pieces of plastic and metal found in the chorizo product. While there have been no reports of injuries or illnesses from consuming the contaminated chorizo, it is recommended to either throw it away or return it to H-E-B for a refund.

San Antonio Packing Company, owners of APCO Brand Meats, released a press release addressing the public health alert, reminding consumers to always check food products for any signs of contamination before consuming them. This incident serves as a reminder to stay informed about product recalls and public health alerts to ensure your safety and well-being.
