Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Hong Thai emphasized the need to prioritize national and ministerial-level research topics on semiconductor chips to support masters and graduate students in their research endeavors. This information was shared at a conference organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology in collaboration with Hanoi University of Science and Technology on April 17.
During the conference, it was noted that there is a significant demand for human resources in Vietnam’s semiconductor industry. By 2030, it is projected that Vietnam will require approximately 15,000 engineers for the design stage and 35,000 individuals for the production, packaging, and inspection stages. However, the actual response to this demand is currently limited, highlighting the urgent need to develop human resources for semiconductor microchip technology.
Many scientists and businesses believe that there is a need to focus on training and nurturing human resources to engage in core technology R&D, establish connections to form an ecosystem, and implement mission programs for companies involved in semiconductor technology. Deputy Minister Thai emphasized the importance of collaboration and training in developing specialized human resources and national products, with a shared responsibility among the Ministries of Education and Training, Planning and Investment.
The Ministry of Science and Technology is committed to providing annual guidance on scientific and technological research related to semiconductor microchips and supporting research projects through the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (Nafosted). The goal is to prioritize the training and development of human resources in semiconductor technology to meet the industry’s growing demands.
