Ferri’s IGA Supermarket in Murrysville shutting down after seven decades of operation

The Ferri family, who have been operating IGA Supermarket in Murrysville, Pennsylvania for over 70 years, have announced the closure of their store. In a letter on their Facebook page, they stated that due to various challenges in the industry, including tight profit margins and intense competition, they can no longer sustain operations. Despite their commitment to quality products and personalized service, they have found it difficult to thrive.

One major setback for the supermarket was the unexpected departure of Mainline Pharmacy as a tenant earlier this year, which led to a sales decrease of over 20%. To encourage customers to come back and shop at their store before it closes, the supermarket is offering a 10% discount on all items except for tobacco and milk products starting today. The store will remain open until May 31st.
