India’s men’s and women’s 4x400m relay teams qualify for Paris 2024 Olympics

The Indian men’s 4x400m relay team, consisting of Muhammad Anas Yahiya, Muhammad Ajmal, Arokia Rajiv, and Amoj Jacob, seized their second chance and ran an impressive season’s best time of 3:03.23 to secure a spot in the event. The team was originally composed of Rajesh Ramesh but he had to withdraw from the race on Saturday, causing a did not finish (DNF) for India.

Meanwhile, in the women’s 4x400m relay race, the Indian team of Rupal, Jyothika Sri Dandi, MR Poovamma, and Subha Venkatesan clocked a time of 3:29.35 to finish behind Jamaica in their heat and earn a quota for India. In this race too, there was a change as Vithya Ramraj was replaced by Rupal.

Despite not starting in the second heat of the mixed relay qualifying round, India still has a chance to qualify a team for the event at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Two quotas will be distributed based on the top list during the qualification period between December 31, 2022 and June 30th
