Starting in early May, La Gringuita cookies will be available in the frozen cookies section of Whole Foods stores in South Florida. These bake-from-frozen cookies take about 12 minutes to cook and have a delicious filling. This update comes from Caroline McGinley, the founder and CEO of La Gringuita cookies. Her brand was selected to participate in Whole Foods’ Local & Emerging Accelerator Program (LEAP) after thousands of applications.
Caroline’s quarter-pound stuffed cookies caught Whole Foods’ attention as they are a unique offering not commonly found in supermarkets. She began making cookies for her roommates in Uruguay and eventually expanded through social media. American cookies were found to be a rare treat in South America, garnering high interest. During the pandemic, Caroline relocated to South Florida and began selling her cookies online and at local green markets. Each package contains frozen dough balls that can make four quarter-pound stuffed cookies. La Gringuita offers seasonal flavors alongside four mainstays: Brown Buttah, Chocolate Souffle, El Churro, and The Jammy.
Caroline’s journey is certainly a sweet recipe for success. If you have a suggestion for our next “Shining A Light” segment or something you’re proud of in your community, email me at tawalker@wptv.com.
