During his visit to the Euphrates district in Anbar governorate, Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani met with the executing company at the Anbar combined power station project to discuss the progress of the ongoing work and ensure speedy completion according to required specifications. Al-Sudani emphasized the importance of not delaying the project, especially since the government has provided all the necessary requirements for its completion.
The Anbar power station project is a strategic initiative that began in 2013 but was halted for approximately 8 years due to the occupation of the governorate by ISIS terrorist groups. Work on the project resumed as part of the government’s efforts to remove obstacles to lagging projects. The station is expected to have a capacity of 1640 megawatts, utilizing local natural gas from the Okaz gas field as fuel to reduce energy production costs and ensure a stable energy supply.
Currently, the completion rate of the project stands at 50%, with four gas units and two steam units being part of the station’s setup. In addition to reviewing progress on this project, Al-Sudani also reviewed electricity service throughout Anbar governorate and followed up on other important projects such as Akkas gas project, which will provide fuel for this power station once completed. This visit highlights the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and energy capabilities in Iraq.
Al-Sudani expressed his satisfaction with progress made so far on this project and urged all stakeholders involved in its implementation to continue working together towards its completion.
