Ziad Ali Fadel, Iraq’s Minister of Electricity, has announced the official launch of the electrical interconnection line with Jordan, which is set to take place tomorrow, Saturday. In a statement released by his media office, Fadel expressed his excitement about the launch after a period of waiting and anticipation. He highlighted the importance of this project, stating that it was a significant achievement resulting from diligent efforts and follow-ups.
The first benefit of this project is providing Al-Rutba district with electricity after a decade of struggle due to damage caused by terrorist groups following the invasion of the governorate in 2014. Fadel commended the efforts of the Central Region Energy Transmission Lines Company for their dedication in making this project a success.
The electrical connection line spans 330 km within Iraqi territory and 6 km within Jordanian territory, with a voltage of 132 KV. The initial power supply through the transmission line will be around 40 megawatts, increasing to 150 megawatts in the second phase upon completion of the line up to the 400 KV Al-Qaim station. Future results are expected to reach 500 megawatts to provide electricity to a large portion of Anbar Governorate.
