Following what may have been the most successful Jazz Fest ever, teams are now working to dismantle the festival grounds in New Orleans. The event, which featured headliners such as the Rolling Stones, experienced minimal rain and resulted in 97% of the city’s hotel rooms being occupied and close to half a million attendees.
Renowned Jazz Fest poster artist, Terrance Osborne, shared that this year was one of his best for selling his signature art at the festival. He enjoyed the pleasant weather with some clouds providing relief from the scorching heat.
Vendors are currently dismantling their temporary but profitable stands on the Fair Grounds infield. The festival spanned eight full days, with the Rolling Stones performing on Thursday – possibly the biggest act in Jazzfest history.
Despite challenges getting outbound flights, many visitors decided to extend their stay in New Orleans. The economic impact of the festival is estimated to be around $400 million, with tourists shopping in the French Quarter and supporting local businesses.
Osborne expressed that if he could attend without having to work at his art booth, he would consider it even better next year. However, he plans to participate again along with loyal customers who promise to return, regardless of whether or not the Rolling Stones are part of the lineup next time around.
