Chiefs opt not to play Taylor Swift tunes at Arrowhead to honor Travis Kelce

During the 2023 NFL season, Travis Kelce’s relationship with Taylor Swift received a lot of attention. However, fans may have noticed a lack of Swift’s music playing in Arrowhead Stadium. This was a deliberate decision by the Kansas City Chiefs to give Kelce a break amidst the media frenzy surrounding their relationship.

Kelce and Swift were constantly in the spotlight from the moment Swift appeared at a Chiefs game until Kelce and his teammates won Super Bowl LVIII. The intense media coverage of their relationship led Chiefs president Mark Donovan to take action to ensure that the spotlight did not become too overwhelming for Kelce. At the World Congress of Sports, Donovan revealed that the team’s game operations team chose not to play any of Swift’s music during home games. He stated that the team made it clear to Kelce that they would be respectful of his relationship and avoid any intentional distractions.

Despite being in the public eye, Kelce’s performance on the field was not affected. During the regular season, he recorded 93 receptions for 984 yards and five touchdowns. Throughout the Chiefs’ playoff run, he caught 32 passes for 355 yards and three touchdowns. Kelce’s focus remained on his game, regardless of the attention surrounding his relationship with Swift.
