Join Us at the Open House at Kaua‘i District Health Office: Everyone Welcome

The Kaua‘i District Health Office is excited to invite the public to an open house in celebration of National Public Health Week. This free event will take place on April 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the district office located at 3040 Umi St. in Līhuʻe. The goal of this event is to provide attendees with an opportunity to interact with Hawai‘i State Department of Health staff and learn about various programs and actions community members can take to address public health challenges. Additionally, participants will have the chance to explore public health career and educational opportunities.

Dr. Janet Berreman, Kaua‘i District Health Officer, expressed excitement for the event and the opportunity to thank the community and partners for their ongoing support in building a healthier and thriving Kaua‘i. She emphasized that collaborating to increase understanding and support for public health initiatives benefits the community as a whole.

National Public Health Week, observed during the first full week of April each year, is a time when communities nationwide come together to recognize the significance of public health and address critical health issues. This year’s theme, Protecting, Connecting, and Thriving: We Are All Public Health, highlights the importance of working collaboratively to improve the nation’s health.

At this open house event, attendees will have the chance to interact with various DOH staff members from vector control, administrative services, community health workers, public health nurses, epidemiologists, mental health professionals, food safety inspectors, disabilities case managers, and microbiologists who will showcase their diverse roles and services that contribute to public health efforts in our community.

This event is an excellent opportunity for community members who want to learn more about how they can contribute towards building a healthy society by engaging with local government agencies involved in public health management.

Come join us at our open house event on April 5th from 9 am -1 pm at our district office located at 3040 Umi St., Lihue’e!
