Kirksville High School Girls’ Soccer team secures victory over Battle High School

The final home game of the regular season saw Battle face off against Kirksville. The first half was relatively quiet, with both teams failing to score until halftime. However, Kirksville turned things around in the second half, scoring two quick goals within the first eight minutes to take a commanding lead.

Tigers’ Lauren Albright was instrumental in their attacks, scoring two goals early on and dominating the game. Meanwhile, Lucy Tiedemann took advantage of a Battle defensive error to score another goal for Kirksville, bringing their lead to 3-0. Tiedemann continued her impressive form, scoring two more goals in quick succession to make it 4-0 in favor of Kirksville.

Battle’s goalie Ainsley Craver made some impressive saves to momentarily slow down Kirksville’s attack. But Kirksville refused to let up, with Carrigan Maggart assisting Kate Vincent in scoring another goal to increase their lead to 5-0 with seven minutes remaining. By the end of the game, Kirksville had secured a convincing 7-0 victory over Battle, resulting in their 15th consecutive loss.

Kirksville’s win set them up for their upcoming Class 2 District 8 Tournament against Chillicothe. Meanwhile, Battle will compete in the Class 4 District 6 Tournament against Blue Springs South.
